SHOP TALK: Retraining Your Customer for Frequent Shopping

By LC

To get shoppers to visit your store or buy your products more often, your messages need to be more relevant to that customer.Where to start? Well, to begin with, shoppers are more time-starved than money starved. If you can help them save time, they’ll return the favor by spending more with you.

And the best way to help them save time is to find out what they enjoy, and help them enjoy it more often. Once you have that ability, you can:

  • Remind a shopper of an item they used to enjoy but haven’t purchased in a while.
  • Let another shopper know of new items you offer that match their personal preferences.
  • Warn a shopper that an item they regularly purchase is about to run out.
  • Nudge a shopper to expand how often or how much they could be enjoying something they purchase infrequently.
